Primulaceae is a family of mostly herbaceous plant, though there are some woody exceptions. These are very popular garden plants, and this family contains some of our lovely spring ephemerals like Lysimachia borealis. Though swamp loosestrife shares a name, it is not related to the loosestrifes of Lythraceae.
