The Pondweed Family

Potamogetonaceae has 5 genera and 110 known species. The largest by far is Potamogeton with 100 species. This is probably the family we encounter most often when out in the field, hence our sizable collection of specimens. It is considered once of the most important aquatic plant families due to its immense range and use as a food and habitat source for aquatic fauna.
