The Milkwort Family

Polygalaceae is comprised of some 900 species, though about half of which are within the genus Polygala. The specimen we have is currently under some taxonomic discussion, with some sources calling it Polygaloides pauciflora, and others calling it Chamaebuxus pauciflora. Regardless of the name, it is a common sight in the woods in spring.
