The Discovery Center maintains a 20km trail system for mountain biking, hiking and cross country skiing. Our terrain is gentle and winds through the woods, along the lake, bog and nearby Manitowish River allowing you to explore a variety of habitats each with their own unique plants and animals. In the winter the trails are groomed and tracked for classic skiing. Contact us for a calendar of programs including: interpretive hikes, guided ski trips, snowshoe outings and more.

DISCOVERY CENTER TRAIL REPORT
--------------------------------
Last Updated: Friday 3/07/2008 3:00 pm

GET OUT THERE AND ENJOY!

SKIING & SNOW CONDITIONS: All Discovery Center trails including River trail rolled groomed and tracked Friday 2/29/08. Powell was groomed and tracked on Wednesday 2/27/08. Skiers tell us trails are still very-good to excellent. Even though it did not accumulate a lot, the fresh snow mid-week made quite a difference - still a few icy patches in the exposed corners but otherwise a great ski.
TEMPERATURE: 10 degrees at 3:00 pm
SNOW DEPTH IN WOODS: 9-12 inches
SNOW DEPTH ON PACKED TRAILS: 4-6 inches packed

PRECIPITATION: An inch or two of snow in last two days. Nothing significant in forecast

LAST GROOMED:

DISCOVERY CENTER: Friday 2/29/08
All trails here at the Center are rolled, groomed and tracked.

POWELL MARSH TRAILS:
Wednesday 2/27/08
Trails at Powell are packed, rolled and tracked. Some deterioration from last week's warm-up and refreeze but skiers report new snow helped and trails are mostly in great shape.

COMMENTS: Skier reports vary from good to very good - a couple of "excellent"s.

WOULD YOU LIKE TO HELP?:
If you think you might be able to spare us a few hours a week throughout the winter, we'd L-O-V-E to have you join our grooming crew. (Please!) No experience neccessary - training provided. Just give us a call and we'll get you set up.
