Discover a jewel in
the
northern landscape!
The North Lakeland Discovery Center is a community-based environmental learning center dedicated to exploring, preserving, and enhancing the Lakeland area's natural, cultural, and historic resources. The Center is located on a 66-acre site in the heart of northern Wisconsin's tranquil Lakeland destination region.
Core values include a belief that the acquisition of knowledge and skills is a life-long undertaking.
Through various means including recreation, discussion, display, and field study, The Discovery Center offers a diversity of experiential learning opportunities. Programs are based on the premise that the better we understand our natural environment, the more likely we are to accept
our shared responsibility to look after it.

2008 WINTER/SPRING PHENOLOGY
BY Naturalists,Zach Wilson,Licia Johnson 5/6/08: Black Throated Green Warbler singing at the Center today! (heard two days ago in Eagle River) -L 4/29/08: Towhee by Deep Lake in Eagle River -L 4/27/08: Manitowish River (between Pea Patch and Bridge) Palm Warblers and Pine Warblers seen. Not really phenology related but kind of neat- on a hike on the River trail at the Center, we went down by the campsite off the trail and under a large white pine found 3 large owl pellets- later identified as Great Horned owl. -L 4/26/08: ICE OUT!! on Statehouse Lake- finally! The southern portion of the lake held on to the ice for a few days after the rest of the lake had opened up -L 4/25/08: Loon pair returns to Statehouse Lake -L <<<< >>>>
