The Discovery Center has partnered with area towns to combat the spread of invasive species into our Northwoods' waters. An invasive species is a non-native species that impacts habitat, populations, and ecosystems.
Invasive species tend to be aggressive, can crowd out or eliminate native species' populations, can change ecosystems, and have the potential to reduce bio diversity.
What can you do to help? Contact us if you see or suspect an invasive species. We are continually mapping all known areas of invasive species to aid in effective and efficient control. We need your input. If you see or suspect an invasive species on a lake or waterway, give us a call and we can confirm its identification and add it to our map.
For other ideas on how to help control the threat, see the Wisconsin DNR's webpage, or the additional resources below.
